Lifetime Fitness Minneapolis

This weekend was fun!
Tami is from the Minneapolis area so every time we go up there to race we stay with her parents. This weekend was full of everything awesome: food, triathlon, boating, jet skiing and sleep. Thursday was a good rest day with the only thing on the agenda being a drive around the bike course. I have done the race 2 years and now a third year and can only remember half of the course. I'm not sure if that means it is a good or bad course. The rest of the day included food and a campfire where I consumed 5 s'mores. Yes, 5 s'mores is a GREAT pre race food although most people may not think so.
Friday was the usual pre race crap. We did go out to the race site and get a good swim in. Got everything ready for the race and got to bed early. It was a bummer I was not able to have another 5 s'mores tonight. It really would have messed me up for in the AM.
Saturday morning or 3:30 rolled around and I found myself at the table eating my pre race oatmeal not really feeling too much like racing. It was a lazy mood type of morning and going back to bed seemed like a great option. If it was not for the possibility of Tami coming back and bragging that she won the whole thing I might have just stayed in bed. I definitely couldnt let her have something to brag about. After warming up I went and just sat by the lake for a while until it was time to start. Still no nervousness or jitters. I was hoping a little that I could just be a spectator and relax. But nope. Once on the line it was go time:
Swim: Caught some feet and got towed for most of it.
Bike: caught the leaders about half way through and decided to save some energy and just relax behind them. Had to be careful to not get any penalties though.
Run: Got going and came out of T2 with Nick Early, a pretty solid racer. Got a gap on him and was able to hold on for the win.

It was a great race and hope to get back to it again next year. Have not decided if I want to go to the US open yet but the decision between that and Best of US in LA is pretty tough.

Sunday was filled with boating!!! and a whole lot of bad food. Definitely at a lot of brownies and had 3 cookies for breakfast. Tubing was a blast but didnt get a chance to water ski at all.

This was probably one of the best race weekends yet and got some great summer stories. Up next is a good build before Steelhead 70.3 on the 31st of this month.
