It has been about 3 weeks since Hy-Vee now and have been working really hard. After a high profile race like hyvee with all its hype and excitement it usually takes a while to recover and get back into the swing of things. This year seemed to be a little different. Part of this was probably because the distance had been shortened and part of it is due to it not being an A race for me. The next two on the calendar have more importance to me than Hy-Vee did and hope to have a similar result as Hy-Vee.
For the past few weeks the training has been great. There are a lot of different way that people train. Some go for broke every workout with fewer hours per week spent training. Others take the opposite approach and spend two to three times as much time doing what they think is necessary to achieve their goals. Though I am jealous for those who have the time to devote that many hours and are able to mentally make it through those long hours, I find myself somewhere in between. Since I only work during the summer and that is my income for the rest of the year I find myself working a lot. All workouts have a point and I am using different systems every time I lace up or saddle up.
This next week is a little rest before Lifetime Fitness Minneapolis. I am excited for the rest and to be heading up to Minneapolis. After the race Tami and I (and parents) are heading to Chino Latino. If you have not been there you should definitely do it sometime. It is some of the best food you will ever have. Then Sunday we will hopefully get some time in water skiing and boating. (Due to weather this could not happen after Hy-Vee).
So long for now!
